This website is provided as a service to teachers. The Portland Harbor Museum hopes these materials will provide teachers with both in class and homework assignments. The site is organized into five sections, an introduction and four break-out pages that provide more detail on a specialized topic. Each section has a short essay, research questions, suggested exercises and a bibliography. Also, at the top right of each page you’ll see a summary of the learning objectives covered on that page. Teachers are welcome to select as much, or as little, as they need to fit into their curriculum. This material is particularly suited to the study of World War Two. However, it could also be useful for students studying government, economics or other humanities.
If you are a student, welcome! Please look around this site. Although this website is intended for teachers, there are no secrets. We hope you enjoy learning about Liberty Ships.
